and you pretend it's the end

and you fancy a void, a nonexistence

it's there, a uninvitingly deserted place

where one can glimpse into

religion had to be invented

Every day you choose to live your life

is one that brings you closer to the end of it

We rush to meet the end, unaware we do it

s u r p r i s e d

by a looming finality we should have seen coming

WASTE

Do you pretend to think that

after you die

you will confront some entity in charge

and be able to demand

that you want

y o u r

money back?

WISE

If the answers they give you about  a f t e r

conflict like all the others do

you can always go back

and embrace what they told you happens but-

maybe you ought to

figure out

your o w n  answers too?

you sell yourself out if you don't

I wanted to trust in something  r e a l

...I swear I wanted to, but

no one else seemed to have

a solid grip on what we were supposed

to be doing here

they told me to grab their hand--

but what were  t h e y  holding?

they were equally anchorless individuals
