Ah Sacrament Meeting.
Here I find myself awash in the Mormon blather about how homosexual unions must be forced to reckon themselves into the corner of banishment.
Bigotry is alive and well across the cultural halls of Mormon city states. Pamphlets decrying the evils of homosexual union with accompanying perceived threats are placed within arms length of all who pass by.
God has spoken. Defeat the Gays. They cannot partake of our sanctity. They don't know what sanctity is... at least.. not how we know it. And since they do not know our sanctity, they cannot or do not deserve to have even a smathering of a nibble.
We've banned them from our temples. Nay, they cannot enter. Oh okay, if they promise not to act on their evil lusts, then we tolerate them and let them enter... but now we are splitting hairs. Yes, we let them enter our temples if they make themselves, basically, like unto Unichs. We force them to try to love like we love even though they cannot bring themselves to do it. But God said... so let it be done.
God.
Said.
He did?
How do we know God said it?
Well (laughingly) of course, every word that cometh forth from one of my prophets is God's voice.
"God" also made skin color variations. There was a time when blacks could not enter the Mormon temple because they were cursed (by "God") with a dark skin. Blacks far and wide now enter the temples of the Mormon God. Ahhhhh. How times have changed. Brigham Young must be rolling over in his grave.
This sunday is no exception. Here, have a taste:
I received the full blown hysteria today from the California LDS pulpit I attended. The speaker was willing to dole out the message of importance of sustaining and supporting all facets of Salt Lake City's position that Prop 8 must be defeated.
"Gays have a problem, they fight against the things of God with their sexual activities"
"We must love them but hate their sinning"
"We must love the gay men and women even though they are making grievous mistakes with their lives"
"Gays can repent, turn away from the ungodly, and receive full fellowship in the true and living church of Christ"
blech. Intolerence. From what I gather about the sexual orientation of gay men and women, it is no more possible for them to love the opposite sex [like the Mormon God dictates] than it is for a straight man or woman to love their same sex. In essence, "God" made them that way.
God, if there is one, made men who love men the same as this entity, if it exists, made men with black skins. It's not a choice. Deal with it. One day, I predict, you all will be rolling over in graves of your own.
My vote will be a trembling NO on prop 8 on account that I cannot allow myself to be the one who tells another that they cannot enjoy what I do simply because they are different than myself in regards to sexual orientation.
I would not force a black man to drink from a different water fountain, attend a different school or work for me without recompense (slavery). That is wrong. How is denying a gay man or woman marital rights any different?
